I wish to propose a panel focused on the history of scientific reconstruction (or artwork) in paleontology and anthropology, how it is used to communicate science to both professional and lay audiences, and issues that have resulted from it. My own paper will explore three reconstructions of the dinosaur Iguanodon, and their significance for the way in which not only this dinosaur, but extinct animals in general were perceived. Ideally, we should have contributions treating different locales. If you’re interested in contributing, please contact me at i.j.j.nieuwland@vu.nl.
